A Whistle is an item which, when blown, can preform one of three functions. Regularly on an overworld screen, it will summon a whirlwind, which carries Link to the next sequential Whistle Warp. If it is the first time the whistle has been used, it will carry him to the first warp. Whistle warps will only work if Link has the Triforce corresponding to the DMap's level. It can also reveal certain secret combos, and kill certain enemies.

In the original Legend of Zelda, the Whistle is called the Recorder in the introduction. In later games of the Zelda series, the Whistle became an Ocarina.
