All Elements with a "(Not Implemented Yet)" Shall be skipped for now.

The Subscreen Editor is a tool found in ZQuest that allows Quest Makers to Add/Remove or Change/Move the elements that make up a subscreen, as well as to completely rebuild a quest's Subscreen from scratch. The Subscreen Editor can be accessed by selecting Misc. Data in the Quest Menu. As the number of Items in Zelda Classic increase, so to do the demands of a subscreen to accommodate all the newer Items. A disgretion at this point must be made between the Active and Passive Labels for a Subscreen. The Passive Subscreen is the bar displayed throughout the entire game above the main game screen, showing Link's current equipped item, counters, mini-map etc, whereas the Active Subscreen is the full-screen menu that is displayed when the Start button is pressed, where Link's Items are shown and he can equip new ones, his quest status is shown (usually by a number of triforce pieces collected) and in Interior or NES Dungeon DMaps, the main area map is shown.

[edit] Elements that make up a Subscreen

2x2 Frame: A box entity. It can be either organizational or graphical in nature, depending on your personal style. It is similar to the blue boarder around Link's inventory in Zelda 1, and his currently selected Item. These frames are aesthetic, and would generally be used to separate usable Items (The wand, Bombs, the candle, etc.) from Equipment. (Boots, Amulet, Ring, etc.)

BS-Zelda Time:

Button Item: Used in the Passive Subscreen. Shows what Item you have to what Button.

Counter: A counter for an expendable item, such as Rupees, Arrows, Bombs, and keys. You assign the counter to the item you want it to keep track of.

Counter Block: Adds a counter block to the current subscreen. Automatically keeps track of Rupees, Bombs, Super Bombs, and Keys.

Current Item: Adding this to the Subscreen (Active, generally) is needed if you want Items in your quest, as you assign this and Item, and when the player get the item, it shows up on the subscreen. You need to assign it its item class (Boomerang, Candle, Bombs, etc.) and it's postion. The postion is important, as it tells ZC "where" the item is, when you try to select it. You also need to assign other numbers to it. These numbers tell ZC what item to select (it's postion number) when you scroll in either of the directions. Uncheck the "invisible" check box if you want the item to appear.

Current Item:

Erase Subscreen: Adding this erases everything on the current subscreen. Nothing will remain.
